I am rushing to get the series finished before my trip this year up the Tehachapi Grade. Hopefully this time, there will not be any track work.

Yup, I am back! Before these are posted, I will tell you the story behind the crossing: Back when Southern Pacific ran through here, Borax was taken by teams of 20 mules. That is where this street got it's name. One day, ATSF came here, kicked SP off of the portion of the line between Barstow and Mojave, and layed down track on this spur line. No, this is not the mainline, this is actually a spur line that leads to a borax plant.

Union Pacific #8323 comes through with what looks like empty grain cars.

Little did I know that they had just started working on the tracks at the loop. No trains were allowed to come through after that train until they were done. That train was the last one that the track would see for five, six hours!

The relay case says that this crossing is still owned by the ATSF(Santa Fe)! Burlington Northern and Santa Fe combined to form BNSF.

This is the beginning of a series that may take a year. The beginning of this event is for the beginning of a great New Year. This series will feature all of  the crossings I saw while driving up the Tehachapi Pass, including the crossings at the Tehachapi Loop!
