A private crossing is owned by the railroad, but it leads to a private structure, such as a house. The name "North American Chemical Co." means that the road leads to a chemical plant. Although signs say no tresspassing, if the tresspasser is a railfan(or crossingfan in my case), then they usually let it slide.
